Have Mercy On The Poor

Many times within the society, you will hear statements about growing the economy. We are told about goals and targets, but in the midst of growing an economy, the poor are not in the equation. They are long forgotten by politicians and business people, and even some global agencies that promise to deal with charity and such issues.

Oftentimes, the advisers themselves have no idea what it is to be poor. They simply make decisions, oblivious of the realities. Sometimes you will see statements made by various countries regarding poverty eradication. They even have international-level conferences where they discuss and make statements to those assembled, and based on the statements, you wonder if they know where they are living.

Decisions have been made to make the investors happy, while the poor are very unhappy. In fact, they are dying under pressure.

Sadly, the younger generation is drowning under debt, burdened by the weight of what the previous generations left behind. This is not a legacy, this is a yoke.

God showed me a vision where a group of politicians and investors were crossing a river. They were all excited at the prospect of new business deals, but in the midst of all that, the Lord showed that there were two generations. The older generation was trying to catch up, but they could not. While the young generation was in the river trying to cross, the politicians were trying to extend their hands in a simple gesture, but it was only for show.

They didn’t realise, however, that in crossing the river at the pace to grow the economy and please the investors, there were different levels of the riverbed and that the children were drowning; the only alternative was for the Church to step in and save them. The politicians and business people did not even realise what was happening. There are other meanings, however, that will be discussed in articles to come.

One cannot drive an economy at the pace of investors and international lenders. Even when the nation passes the test, the people are failing the test. If we want to see the economy grow, we must put plans and measures in place to rescue the poor.

DEATH BECAUSE OF POVERTY

One billion children worldwide are living in poverty. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty.

In 2011, 165 million children under the age five were stunted (reduced rate of growth and development) due to chronic malnutrition.

The World Food Programme says, “the poor are hungry and their hunger traps them in poverty”. Hunger is the number one cause of death in the world, killing more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.

The Bible, specifically and strongly, outlines in Proverbs 31: 8-9: “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” Take a look also at Proverbs 22: 22-23, Psalm 12:5, and Isaiah 10: 1-3, which is a very serious scripture.

No nation must have any laws or decrees that would bring any kind of oppression or further hardship on the poor. When God establishes a leader in office, God judges them based on the burdens borne by the poor of the nation. In fact, that is what defines one’s legacy or the duration of the administration; and when we focus on pleasing the investors and the poor are forgotten, then it brings serious consequences and curses over the nation.

The country urgently needs to revisit the economic policies that it is pursuing.

The Government needs to set up JA Monetary Fund for the Poor. This will assist the poor, for example, with basic items, furniture, education, burial, and health bills.

– It needs to provide nurses’ aides for seniors, especially for the disabled children and adults.

– Coordinate with the private sector to donate skimmed milk powder and diapers to the newborn babies of poor families.

– Have a flat rate on water for the poor.

– Reduce GCT.

– Increase the minimum wage.

– Restore and revamp the free zone.

– Build more shelters for the homeless.

– Have a flat rate for electricity in low-income areas.

– Give more support for farming, not only in promoting it as a viable means of income, but also in subsidising the cost of tools and equipment.

– Lower insurance rates for second-hand vehicles.

– Implement a no-tax policy for new companies for the first three years.

There is much more we can do for the poor, particularly if we want to see the next generation rise to meet the challenges and overcome them for the growth and development of the nation.

NEXT ELECTION: RICH VS. POOR

pixabay-064e00e14a03f1f2

Everyone is now caught up in the election fever, but the key thing is not the election fever and the election itself; it is what will happen after the election!

God has been speaking to many Jamaicans in dreams and visions – young and old from all walks of life regarding Jamaica. Some have been seeing vehicles or various airlines crashing. Others are seeing buses and planes while others are seeing in their dreams and visions Tsunami and tidal waves hitting Jamaica. All these has a double meaning – spiritual and natural. It would represent spiritual depravity and other negative happenings within the nation such as crime and corruption.

The coming election is not about which color, it is about the rich and elite becoming richer and the poor becoming significantly poorer. Furthermore, it would about the strong conviction diminishing within the people.

Despite the suffering of Jamaicans, even if they are not Christians, they are still God-fearing. So there is a fight to impose the Egyptian and the Babylonian systems on Jamaica. By successfully doing so, then they would successfully dominate the remaining islands, as Jamaica was once the Pearl of the Caribbean.

One of the key things to achieving their objectives is to keep dividing the people politically, so that they will not see the bigger picture and keep pointing fingers as to what one government did in the past and what the other didn’t.

A person cannot create a future by using the past. The fact of the matter is that both political parties have made some wrong choices over the years which are now affecting the nation. It was all about SELF! Until we move away from the word SELF, then Jamaica might become as Syria is today; or there will be places in the nation that nationals will not able to enter or access in their own country!

There are many groups on the social network that have healthy debates on a daily basis. But I suggest that they come together, set aside a day for prayer and fasting.

Our country has moved away from the very words that made up our National Anthem. We became short-sighted as a nation and we did not look on the longer term when decision-making. We have embraced and let in Trojan horses and have given foreigners greater favor than our locals.

A time is coming, where many politicians will be weeping on their beds for some of the decisions that they have made.

Even as it concerns Crime, many benefit from Crime, so there is no great effort to alleviate it. The only time we will see great change is when someone in the nation, deemed important is cut down.

Going forward will be very interesting, only Divine Intervention will turn the nation from the path it’s on. For many years, prophetic instructions were given for both leaders to come together along with the private and public sector, lock down the country between 1 and 3 days and make atonement for some of the past wrongs that have broken spiritual laws. Many excuses have been given for not coming together that way; and some have even said they cannot shut down businesses for that long. But, interestingly they never had a problem shutting down some of these very places when earthly kings were coming to visit. If we don’t shut down for God, God will shut us down!

As far as the elite and rich are concerned, the present economic environment is conducive to their ‘success’! They will do anything to maintain it! But how long will it remain that way. I know many are disappointed about the Church, because many are saying, for a nation with the most churches per square mile in the world, why is there so much crime. But sadly, not every place that is called ‘Church’ actually belongs to God.

If it had not been for a group of faithful ones praying for the nation, it would have collapsed long ago. Where the disappointment lies is with some of the leading churchmen in the country who have access to both political and diplomatic corps, but have taken political sides and have compromised God’s Word for self and their denomination.

Once I told a politician of the potential increase in crime ahead especially in the west – Montego Bay – he outlined to me that one of the greatest hindrances with the church is that each time someone comes with a plan or proposal from the church, there are others who always come in and discredit the plan and dissuade the listener from listening to the proposal – as they are protecting their turf. Interesting!

PUTTING THE INTEREST OF OTHERS FIRST BRINGS PROSPERITY

pixabay-856858a1fa3a201f

Philippians 2: 3 – 4 tells us:
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others”.
The world teaches us to put our interests first. But Christ teaches us to think about the interest of others before thinking about our own. God is looking for people to promote and raise up as the next millionaire, the next President, the next Prime Minister; He is looking for people who will begin to esteem others more than themselves.
Every true Christian must esteem others above themselves! Can you imagine what would take place if a few leaders came forward focusing on the interest of others above their interests and what transformation would take place globally?

Greed, pride and selfishness are hindering true growth globally! Even in ministry, it is very difficult to find people who are willing to put their vision on the side and focus on the greater vision of building and restoring humanity. Most will only be a part of a vision in order to enhance their own vision. That is why you have division within churches. Church leaders are now burdened with the weight of the vision because people are not giving their all to the corporate vision nor are focusing on putting the interest of others first.
Most will complain form time to time of not getting certain breakthroughs they desire within a specified time. But I have learnt over time that the quickest path to prosperity is putting the interest of others above your own. Jesus was not thinking about His interests when He went to the Cross, He was thinking of ours!
If Jesus was thinking about His own interests above ours then we would not exist today. Even Job in the midst of his trial and testing was taught of the Lord that the most important thing in life is putting the interest of others first! Job 42 – the Lord told him to pray for his friend and after he did so, restoration began!
So thinking about others first is the first key to prosperity! Jesus became poor that we might be rich! He demoted Himself that we can be promoted!

Many preachers in the Body of Christ have often said that you must ‘sow up, not down’! But if we believe what Jesus did was true, then we will also recognize that Jesus ‘sowed down’ that everybody went up! A major principle of life is that a seed must go down before it can go up! (John 3: 16; Psalm 41, Matthew 13; John 12: 24)
If we want to be promoted and used by God, we need to have the mind of Christ! (Philippians 2: 5)
Christ made Himself of no reputation; He took on the form of a bond-servant and came in the likeness of men, (Philippians 2: 7 – 8) in order to help mankind! In this dispensation, we can barely find leaders at any level who are willing to cut their pay, benefits or lifestyle just to make the lives of others better – in the same way that Christ willingly laid aside His heavenly glory to come to the earth and die that we should live. We, then, if we say we are disciples/followers of Jesus Christ, should be willing also to look beyond our own interests for the sake of others.
Very few can we find in the Body of Christ and the World itself, who are willing to put aside their own interests just to push the cause of others to help humanity. What is happening is that everyone is looking out for their own interests and that is NOT the teaching of Jesus.
Can you imagine what the outcome would be if the fore-runners of the Gospel, or many earthly heroes that fought for freedom in various areas had put their own interests ahead of those for whom they fought?
Oftentimes, people will become a part of a church/ministry, group or any organization, not necessarily to put aside their own interests to help you build, but instead to build themselves up at your expense! Unity of purpose and disposition of God’s people are crucial if the Gospel is to be made effective. CHRISTIANS MUST LEAD BY EXAMPLE!

Many only help those who can help them in return. Some only help those within their category. Luke 14: 12 – 14 says, “Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”
Read this Scripture again and ask the Lord for a revelation and greater insight on how wealth must be distributed and how we must carry out our daily stewardship!

When was the last time you fed the poor? When was the last time you put on a dinner and invited the homeless to come and enjoy some entertainment? Are you just giving to an organization who can give you a Tax Letter? Are you giving so that you can talk about the fact that you give? Are you giving to promote your personal agenda? When was the last time that you used your gift to encourage and to motivate someone going through hard times. (Proverbs 12: 25) When was the last time you gave your brother preferential treatment amidst your big friends’?
I encourage every visionary that is struggling to fulfill their vision, start praying that God will send people in your organization who think about others more than they think about themselves. Pray that God will send those that will walk in humility and not think themselves better than others.
